1.)I need to know what the best Amplifier would be to purchase for these 2 subs.

2.)The best amplifier for 1 of these subs.

3.)Best wires to buy.

I ask because I'm not very knowledgeable in car audio systems as far as what to buy with what, etc. I could imagine that I need a 1600w amplifier for 2 800w subs, with maybe 2 channels?, but I'm not sure about that. Thanx for the help ahead of time.

  1. It sounds like you are planning a Marine application for a Boat?

You really should be going to a shop to get this project done well.  but to answer your question I have found Clarion to be the absolute best at Marine Audio (they are not great in car audio).

Clarion has Marine grade Amps in white that are 2 channel  and will power your 2 subs or use 1 channel and power 1 sub.  Later if you want to add a sub just hook it up to the unused channel.   Clarion Marine has Great speakers, amps subs for marine, lots of choices and a great finish.  The marine amps have an anti moisture coating inside and out, the circut boards a coated and designed to let any water that may get into the amp flow out without damaging the amp.  Its a great marine lineup.

When trying to figure out watts this and that, Use Only the RMS / Rated Power Specs cuz the max power is meaningless marketing stuff to make people think they are getting a lot.

Basically, your sony subs are 200 RMS subs, so you need a 2 channel Amp that powers 200rms x 2 = 400 total.  The specs can be +/- 50 watts and still be acceptable.  (the clarion is 160 x 2 or something like that.)

email me  if you get lost but you sould really go to a shop and have them help you out, in the end, it will be cheaper to go to a pro.  (I only say this cuz I seen a lot of boat systems messed up)
