Best Type Of Bicycle Tire?

I was wondering, I have a Schwinn Mid-town bicycle that I got from Costco and it has a 26*1.95 tire on it and I was wondering, with the stock rim how low can I go on the width 1.25??? Also with this bicycle is there anyway to adjust the front suspension fork? Finally, is there anything that I can to to make this bicycle easier to ride, and a little faster, I know that the most improvement will come from the rider but I just want it to be easier to maintain speed on the road. Tube and/or tire reccomentions would be great. Thank you for your time!!!!!

you just asked half of this question. mirage guitar works gave you the answer. go to your lbs and get some slicks. they'll tell you which are best for your riding needs. in my opinion, you should have started at your lbs. costco is no place to buy a bike - no service, no warranty, stuck in YA to get help. all this is available (often with a cup of java, or a bottle of beer) at your friendly neighborhood local bike shop..
