Yes the games today are absolutely beautiful and why should they not be, taking the technology available today into account.
The graphics have gotten so good that one often finds himself wondering if he is taking a stroll in an alternate reality.
Though the machines are extremely powerful and games pretty real today, there are a lot of gamers who feel that the gameplay of games today is not as good as some of the games that they have played in the past.
Let us take a look at some of the games that have made an ever-lasting impact on us, well majority of us.
Super Mario Bros.
The 2D platformer is without any doubt one of the most popular franchises in the world. Making his first appearance in a Donkey Kong game, the little moustached plumber could not possibly be aware of the fame that awaited him in the years to come.
The first Mario game came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1985, at a time when gaming was not as prevalent as it is today. Yet, that did not keep the brand from gaining popularity and becoming one of the fondest childhood memories of countless
people.
Super Mario Bros. did not have any technicality in its gameplay and that is probably the biggest reason why it got embraced by so many people. One did not have to be a “gamer” to learn the simplistic actions such as running, jumping and firing.
Adventure, puzzles, a bit of romance, a big bad villain, you name it and Super Mario Bros had it. The cartoonish graphics may not even be comparable to the ones that are offered by the high-and-mighty consoles and PC of today, but they served the purpose
quite well, even adding to the appeal of the game.
Even though there was not much of a variety in gameplay as one was simply required to do the same thing over and over again. Yet, Nintendo had somehow managed to design the game in such a way that the experience hardly ever got monotonous.
At times, the game came off as real frustrating, but it was not because of the simplistic gameplay or graphics or monotony, but mainly because of the challenge that had been carefully and expertly weaved into the game so as not to make the game come off
as extremely hard, while ensuring it never got too easy either.
The Super Mario franchise is still alive today and happens to be very much in demand. The latest title in the franchise Super Mario Bros. Wii U was a launch title for Nintendo’s first-ever HD console Wii U that launched in North America on November 18.
