  1. About the food, if you just got him, he might be nervous in a new surrounding, so he might not be eating as much.  He should start eating again after a couple of days.  Plus, puppies have tiny tummies, and he might just eat a couple of kibbles at a time.  Snackers, instead of a whole meal.  That is how my Papillons are.

And the Yelping, he is just trying to get your attention when you put him in his crate.  You need to put him in his crate, and leave the house for an hour so you don't have to hear it, and be tempted to try to sooth him, or yell at him.  He has to learn on his own that he is fine. You need to make sure to put him in his crate several times a day, so he knows it's like his house and he should be comfortable in there.

Also, my male Papillon didn't like going into his crate at all, until I started giving him a treat every time he went in there.

  2. O.K. you have obviously never had an animal before. First of all, take the d**n puppy out of the crate!!! What the h**l is the matter with you, it's a baby, it needs to run and play, and go outside. The only time that the puppy should be in  his crate is when you are taking him somewhere.  Food and water should be kept somewhere where it can be easily accessed by the puppy, and the puppy should be going the bathroom in the backyard. If you have no backyard then YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE A DOG. This is an animal, a real living breathing thing, not a F*$#*&% video game pet. You need to go to the vets office as well as spend some serious time online at reliable sites and learn how to properly take care of your animal, to be honest you should have done that LONG before you decided to get an animal. If you find that you can't take care of it, don't just let it go please take it to the local SPCA so someone who can take care of it will adopt it.

  3. hes a puppy hes probably not use to it so give him time but you can start training him like tell him to be quite and if he does reward him if he yelps say no dont hit him but say no firmly keep doing it for a while and he then should be use to it and would want to be quite it if he knows h**l be getting a reward

  4. The easiest thing I know from experience is to take an old wind up clock or something that makes a ticking noise or a heartbeat type sound in the kennel with the pup. it seems to be soothing to them and they will sleep. Also, you can take a t-shirt or blanket that has your scent on it and place it in the kennel as well. It has always seemed to help with my pups. They are like babies and you can basically sooth them the same ways. A low volume radio or tv can sometimes help as well because then they don't feel alone.

  5. Why are you feeding him and having him go to the potty in his crate??? He needs to go outside to go potty and he needs to eat outside the crate.  The crate is for when you are going to go to bed or when you can't watch him so he doesn't use the potty everywhere.  You need to teach him not to go potty in the crate.  Besides puppies need A LOT of attention!!!!!! Have you took him to the vet yet??? If not they need to go asap as soon as you get a new puppy so they get shots and a full physical!!!!!!

  6. Oh yeah, and canned food isn't the best for puppies. Stick with a good hard puppy food. Purina one, or something of that nature, but just make sure it puppy food until about 1 year of age.

Good luck with your new baby.

  7. its normal for them to cry. my dog cried ALL night long the first couple of weeks or closer to a month, probably. it made me feel really bad and some of the time, so i could sleep i would sleep next to her so she would stop. lol. but just let them cry cause otherwise if you dont then they will always do that. it builds character and strength for them. try putting the crate in your bedroom. and be there when he is too. and put your hand in the crate or near it so he knows you are there and arent just standing and letting him cry. i put my hand in my dogs gate thingy and she was happier, then she feel asleep and so did i. no, its not normal for them to not eat the dog food. but you should try like pedigree for puppies. its better for them, thats if, if you not feeding him that already. try hand feeding him some and make sure you show him where the food and water is. goodluck and in about a couple of weeks the crying will stop. hang in there =)

  8. I have never had problems with "crying "puppies. My baby is now 9 months old and because I have two older dogs I bought a second hand baby's portacot with mesh on the sides so that she could see out and the other could see in. I would feed here in here and she would have her sleeps in here. I also had newspaper down one end for accidents. She also had soft toys in her cot which she would snuggle into when she went to sleep. Another thing I use for new puppies is a baby pouch where she would hear my heart beat, felt safe and secure and I could go out with her or do my work with her snuggled down. To toilet train I use newspaper first then slowly move paper until it is out the door. Puppies usually need to go when they first wake up from a sleep and after a meal. Taking him to puppy school is a very responsible thing to do and I wish that more new owners would take do this. it is so important that puppies are socialised. I wish you all the best and many enjoyable years with your "baby"

  9. you dont let them potty in their crate or eat in it, find a website on crate training.he will eat when he gets hungry. but set the food and water bowl outside of the crate.

little chef you need to settle the h**l down, crates are when your not at home, for where the pup sleeps.. learn what your talking about before sounding that ignorant.

well if your "advisor" said to let the dog potty in the crate i would find someone else to train my dog, she obviously has no clue what she is talking about.

  10. Its only natural because puppies want to be by their parents side.... I have a dog and when he was a puppy he did that too..... Yes its normal for him to eat the dog food but makesure he gets real meat from the dog can foods... because dogs are carnivores so they need real meat every once in a while.....
