I run an education division for A large company. We are in 100's of schools but reaching the homeschool market one parent at a time is too costly. Anty suggestions.

  1. - Go to homeschool conventions and curriculum fairs.

    - Adverstise in homeschool magazines and on homeschooling web sites.

    - Create a website and get the word out

  2. get a website

  3. Sell and market to hs friendly book supplers such as GCB, Timberdoodle, Rod and Staff, Dover, Elijah, or even book stores like Barnes/Nobel and Borders.  Most homeschoolers do not use boxed curriculum.  We use various books from hs friendly suppliers.

  4. I would contact the Homeschool Buyers Co-op and do a group buy or special purchase.  Or offer a sweepstakes prize, etc.

    http://www.homeschoolbuyersco-op.org

They are always looking for new deals!  I've rec'd some incredible HS'ing discounts on things that are typically for B&M schools.

  5. look online for the Homeschool Organization or association in each state.  Contact each one & discover when their yearly conference and exhibition is.  Ask each one for their best suggestion of advertising to reach homeschool parents.

Get a booth at the exhibition - tons of homeschool parents go there.  #2  Advertise in "Teach" magazine" and other homeschooling magazines.  #3 contact homeschool consignment stores such as "homeschool potporri" in Kirkland, WA.

  6. There are several homeschool magazines in which you can run ads. These are two magazines that I get:

The Old Schoolhouse: The Magazine for Homeschool Families. This magazine has a very large homeschool circulation both for its print magazine and also in its online blog site. www.TheHomeschoolMagazine.com

Homeschooling Today. Advertising can be contacted at (205)854-7776. Website: www.homeschoolingtoday.com

The annual state conventions are much anticipated with a large homeschool turn out every year. It is a very good place to get exposure for new products. Products that are popular at these convetions are curricular, kitchen-oriented, and self-reliance products.

  7. Homeschool Conventions when they have them. This would be the best way or local Teacher's Supply stores. They usually accept new products or flyers.

  8. http://www.supervision-management.com/

  9. Defiantly homeschool conventions/conferences. They are all over the place especially around March-May when parents are buying for the upcoming year. Most have a setup for sales.

  10. Most home schooled kids belong to play groups or support groups with other parents so their kids can have interaction with other children.  When I had my practice in Virginia, I had a few patients that belonged to these groups.  They actually advertise in local, small hometown flyers and newspapers.  You may want to check that avenue.

  11. It depends on what it is you are trying to market/sell.

Much of the traditional school textbooks, or materials are not what the average home school family is looking for since much, if not all of these are designed for a classroom setting.

Home schooling is individualized one on one teaching/learning.

You may want to see how successful home school curriculum/material suppliers are marketing their wares.

Home school families often learn from other families by word of mouth, but your best bet would be to have a web site, or be a vendor at home school conventions; each state holds one at least once a year.

Another option would be to advertise in home school magazines that have a large subscribers base, like HEM, and The Old School House Magazine.
