Best Way to Rid of c**k Roaches?

I'm just curious, what do you think is the best way of getting rid of them (Just killed one, first one i've seen, actually...), and really any indirect ways of doing it? i have an extreme phobia of bugs.

I'm a teacher who works at a school that is completely infested with roaches. So even though I don't have them in my house, I have a lot of experience dealing with them.

The most important thing to remember is to try and keep food covered up and from spilling. Even the teeniest crumb on the counter will attract a roach and once you've got one eating the crumb, it leaves a scent so that it's "brothers" will soon be there too. Ugh.

Tons of roach motels all over the house (especially in places like the bathroom that have water and under sinks). i also spray corners and any holes in the wall with roach spray that smells like air freshner.

it's also good to get an exterminator once every 1 - 2 months. if you can't afford one (which is understandable it gets costly!) then you can buy these roach bombs which are really just a can of super strong roach killer.

when you open the top, the roach killer comes out and looks like smoke. try not to breathe it in -- a little bit won't kill you, but it'll make you cough and gag.  

you set off a couple of the bombs in your house, then leave for 3 - 4 hours. those work great and kill off all the buggies.  

last thing, always throw away grocery bags, don't just leave them hanging around the house. as disgusting as it is, roaches enjoy hanging out at grocery stores and often can get into your house via the plastic baggies we use to bring our goods home

I hate Roaches.. I always make sure the house in very clean especially the kitchen, no smelly waste bags or anything.. Roaches are like flies they smell their food from long distances...Take away their food source and that will help...
