Best Way to Travel From California to LA?

I'm writing a story and would like to know what kind of public transport someone might use to get from California to LA. I'm British, so I'm not really familiar with US public transport. Also, the story's set about ten years ago, so nothing too modern.

a bus would be something good if you really want to see the sights, but there could also be a train, i'm not sure about that though

yea and did you mean Los Angeles or the state Louisiana

I'm assuming you mean Louisiana and not Los Angeles - because Los Angeles is in California.  

We have trains (although not nearly as convienent as they are in Europe, but we still have them

Buses - especially for people on a budget, Greyhound is a very common form of cross country transportation.

Planes - More expensive, but the most convienent.

Alternatives - college kids will often post requests on bulletin boards at school for rides.  And someone with a car might post open seats on a bulletin board for the same reason - that way the kids can share the expenses of travel.  Might be helpful to know if you are writing about that age group.

For an hours journey to Los Angeles - the bus would be the easiest option.  Of course it could also take you an hour to get from one side of LA to the other, lol.  If money isn't an issue and hour journey could easily be taken by taxi - but a bit expensive.
