Question:

Best Weather Sites in UK?

I am American and I am traveling to London this weekend. I am trying to get a good idea of how the weather will be. Unfortunately, every weather website I visit has a different answer. I've been to BBC Weather, Accuweather, and the Weather Channel. The results have been anything from 60F with rain to sunny and 75F.

Can any Brits help me find accurate weather so I am not running around London wearing a short dress in ice, cold rain.

  1. www.metoffice.org.uk

    thaats probally the best one.

  2. It's almost too early to tell...  5 days is the maximum for a reliable prediction.

I checked the weather (for where I am) this morning, and just now, and the forecast for *Thursday* has changed.

London for Saturday is currently showing sunny spells, 72F

    (BBC)

More importantly, light North-easterly winds which could indicate a stable situaton.

(lively westerlies, and *anything* can come off the Atlantic in no time.)

    EDIT:   It's changed!

8am UK time, it's showing overcast with rain showers for Friday, rainshowers with sunny periods, 70F for Saturday...

That's Britain: you don't like the weather?  Wait ten minutes.

  3. lol pam we havent got a clue!

seriously though, if you look at the BBC site and the met office, that should give you a good idea

hope you enjoy your stay =)

  4. http://www.weather.co.uk

This is The Weather Channel website specifically for the UK.  Obviously no weather forecasts are 100% all of the time, but this is as good as it gets for the UK.

  5. Hey I think that netweather is the best

BUT please be aware that our tiny island in the Atlantic with its swirling air and sea currents and vulnerable coastline is VERY changeable and unpredictable! It is quite possible for it to be 75F and sunny in the morning and 60F and raining in the afternoon - seriously! The weather is always like that here - there aren't really any good stable weather patterns.

The key is - layers! Have fun! Hx

  6. I always use the BBC's website. I have heard the weather will be OK for London at the weekend. Just pack a cardigan just in case! Have a good time.

  7. Fact is, none of the forecasters are any good, so they just make it up!

Piers Corbyn at WeatherAction is supposed to be good, but I think he charges for his forecasts.

Britain 's weather is changeable because the country is at the mercy of so many weather fronts.

A good rule is: expect the worst.
