Best Whitening Techniques for Laundry????

We just moved into a hard water area and I've noticed that our laundry (particularly whites) has started to look dingy!!! I was wondering if anyone could offer up some solutions that don't involve bleach..... it just seems to make me itch like mad!!! Thank you in advance.

Oxyclean and Mrs Stewart's Bluing for extra whiteness both get rid of that dingy appearance.  You can also add baking soda to "soften the water" and it makes the detergent work better, too.

I use Dreft on all of my whites and I have moms at the play ground ask me how I keep my kids' whites so white. It's awesome! I use it on all of my clothes!!!!
