Best active Red Sox player on the team

Depends what you mean by "best"

Most talented pitcher is Beckett, but best performing is Lester. He just got pitcher of the month fo the major Leagues.

Most talented position player is Youkilis because of his glove and bat. Next is probably Lowell  because of his bat and glove, but you could also argue Pedroia. All 3 of these guys are or will be perennial all-stars. I just wish Lowell was about 5 years younger, so they could play together for their whole career. Add a better SS, and the Sox have the best infield in the league.

bay has shown sparks, but come on, its only a few games. time will tell, although i agree he is a good player

4. Jed Lowrie (i know, but recently, he has ben ON FIRE)

I actually like Jason Bay, he is a good fielder, if you count the homeruns from nl he leads the team in hr's and bats in the clutch, in his debut he was the only 2 runs and the second was the winning run.

Second is Kevin Youkillis cuz he hits for average, power and has some wheels on him. And he is a gold glover.

Lester is the big game pitcher now.

Dusty is consistent and Youk is the face of the team this year, I guess.

A healthy David Ortiz is the best player and should be the face of the team tho.

Jason Bay is not the best player, he is a historically streaky hitter, he went 1-5 last night and he would have been 0-5 and ended the game on a weak grounder to the left side if Gordon hadn't muffed the play.  Bay just got the Red Sox freedom from the lameness that Manny promised would come if he wasn't freed from his two options because he wanted to be a free agent.

Bay did good against Oakland as he should, they are basically a AAA team right now cause they traded all their ML pitching except Duscherer and he pitched great against the Sox.  They won in the 12th 2-1...

Red Sox aren't toast yet, but this will be more difficult now then it would if Manny would have just shut up and played.

Josh Beckett, I don't care what his numbers are for the year. Come October he is the one guy in the league you want starting for your team.

as a yankee fan i have to say that the best player on ur team even tho he is not having his best season he is one of the most clutchest pitchers in baseball

so lets run down his playoff stats

and remember im a yankee fan

in the world series he has a era of 1.16  with 28 k's to 6 walks

AND A WHIP OF 0.78

in the playoffs he has a 1.73 in 72.2 inings pitched

its almost like he gets better when the stakes are higher

if the red sox & beckett make another world series run and he dominates then he might go down as the most dominant pitcher in the world SERIES everrr
