Best affordable all-inclusive resort in Mexico?

Hello! We're looking to go on our honeymoon September '08. We want to spend around $3000, give or take, including airfare. I was thinking Mexico we could get the most for our money. As long as there is a nice sandy beach, drinks, pools and some fun activities we will be satisfied. There is just SO many resorts to choose from when I get online. Also, could we get better deals going through a travel agent?

Thanks!

  1. If your thinking in terms of Cancun, We just booked a vacation there. I did a lot of research. I like expedia. It sounds like you should stay away from the Oasis Cancun. It looks nice but the MANY reviews were horrible!

    This is what we booked....

Air and all-inclusive 7 nights at GR Soloaris (for 4 people!!) for $3644 in November.

All inclusive at this hotel includes All meals, unlimited selected drinks (including alcohol)  All non-motorized watersports (snorkeling, kayaks, small boats, 4 pools (1 with swim up bar) 3 bars, live entertainment, beach volleyball, ect...

There is also a bus that will take you down the strip to differant bars, shops, resturants, anywhere you want to go for a small fee.(cheapier than a taxi) Got to check out Senior Frogs.

Also a place that you can swim with dolphins for around $100 but Im not sure yet how much it would cost for transportation to get there and back. Parasailing is popular and it is offered many places around all the resorts.

  2. I would recommend looking along the Riviera Maya. Most of the resorts there are all-inclusive and you can get a fairly compeititive rate when you book the flight and resort together. These resorts pick you up from the airport, take you to the hotel, and you really never need to leave it again.

    Good luck!

  3. go to tripadvisor.com and search for great deals, Puerto Vallarta is beautiful as long as you are there between Oct-May. read the forums and ask question"s do lots of research. I have found the forums to be the best.

We did not care for all-inclusive but each there own.............and by the way Congrats.

  4. Any of the Playa del Carmen resorts. We have been yearly for 9 years running now and dollar for dollar it is the best value for a trip. This years trip ran about $1000 per person all inclusive; food, flight, drinks, shuttle from airport to hotel from the NY area. We have stayed at the Iberostars & Palace resorts as well. The proximity to town, which used to be a small fishing village is a 5 minute cab ride for about $5 usd should you care to venture. Playa is close to many major attractions - Tulum, Xel-ha, Cancun, ferry to Cozumel etc. I do have to stop telling people about it though...getting too many tourists! ;)

  5. Puerto Vallarta would probably be the cheapest place...

you can try "Dreams Resort".. i have not stayed there personally, but my sis and her husband were there for their 1 year anniverssary and they loved it.. it's all inclusive..

  6. You could try the following website.  Some of the places offer all inclusive, I believe.
