  1. Each child is different

    In my experience

    My daughter started at 2

    My son at 2and1/2

My grandson has just done it and he is 3 , though he is dry day and night now and it only took two weeks

    xx

  2. My daughter is 17 months old and she is just now starting.  We read books and watch fun movies about going potty.  But really it's when you're child is ready.  My daughter brings us diapers when she needs to be changed and tells us when she poops (some times), still leary of the potty chair, but she's getting it.

    Good Luck.

  3. I'm potty training my son now who's 27 months old & my daughter was 29 months and was pottytrained in a month it just depends on the child when they are ready.

  4. I started my daughter at 18 months - she started to do her poos in the potty and out of nappies by age 2 but every child is different - my granddaughter is 21 months and nowhere near potty training.

  5. I don't think there is a "best age" - as a previous responder has said, every child is different.

I think the best tactic is to follow your child's lead and allow him/her to develop this skill at his/ her own pace - rather like any other skill.

  6. There is no best age. your child will give you little signs when they are ready, like telling you they are wet.

My best advise would be to have a potty downstairs as well as in the toilet. let them watch you go so they get the idea. Don't force them to sit and don't scold when they mess.

This will take time so get into a routine. When they wake sit them on the potty even if they do nothing give praise for sitting longer. After meals before bed etc think when you would go same for any child.

My daughter is 2 and has been using the potty for about 6 months she no longer wears nappies in the house still working on outings.

I find that if she has a nappy on she will not use the potty so she no longer has them on in the house. Try pull ups they are a lot easier for child to pull up and down.

Good luck and don't give up.

  7. about when they r a toddler like 2-3 years old

  8. my mum reckoned i was 15 months when i was trained but my lil man is 16 months and i wouldnt say he is ready.

we use the potty after every meal. he sits on it and i read him a story but he has only ever done a wee on it once. (but you can gaurentee as soon as that nappy goes on he poos!

so i just have it around to get him used to sitting on it and seeing it about. im going to wait another couple of months and see where he is at then. I think you will know if your ilttle one is ready, but as  a very general guide i would say about 18-24 months. the summer is usually a good time, when they can run around in the garden with nothing on. thats what i did when i trained my nephew and he was 2.

most nurseries start around 2 as well. good luck x

  9. The first answer is great.  Every child is different.  However, there are some clues that they are becoming ready.  Some will go into a corner or a "private spot" and get "that" look on their face.  At that point, I'd slowly introduce them to the potty.

Don't stress out about it because that just makes it more scarey for the child.  They all come around eventually!

  10. every child is different

  11. Whenever your child is ready... Don't wait until they are older than 3 1/2 or 4...

  12. 2 or 3 years old. Depends how big your child is.

  13. As soon as they can walk.

  14. Completely, totally dependent on the child.

I'd have to say, mine never showed any of the normal signs of being "ready" - I think I'd still be waiting :) "Ready" for mine was when I took the nappy off for them to run around outside and they'd stop what they were doing to wee. Both of mine were trained within a week, because I'd waited until they knew that they were about to pee and also because I didn't put underwear on them while they were potty training - underwear feels too much like a nappy, they simply didn't remember in time that they weren't wearing one.

  15. Our daughter started herself at 17 months by asking to go for a wee on the toilet & its stepped up since then. She's now 21 months and is dry all day in her knickers, as soon as she needs the toielt she shouts " Toilet" and i run to the nearest one lol.

I think you should never try to force it, but definately introduce the concept from as early as 12 months, this way they start to pick up on what a toilet is used for and will be quicker to pick it all up.

  16. Most children begin potty training sometime around 18 months to three years of age, if he is otherwise growing and developing well.

It is important to look for signs of readiness before you begin potty training, including:

*staying dry for at least 2 hours at a time

    *having regular bowel movements

*being able to follow simple instructions

*being uncomfortable with dirty diapers and wanting them to be changed

*asking to use the potty chair

    *asking to wear regular underwear
