  1. Browning Hi-Power in either 9mm or .40 s&w. Will never let you down.

  2. The best gun I've ever used is a Browning Hi-Power. It is available in both of the calibers that you mentioned.

The right way to do this is to rent or borrow as many guns as you can and try them all out. What is best for me might not be best for you. Try them all and buy what fits YOU best.

  3. Q: Best all around Hand Gun in 9mm or .40 SW?

A:  The 9mm is the better all-around caliber of the two you are asking about.  It is Universally available.  The 9mm is a great defensive caliber provided that you do your part and that you use quality defensive ammo in the 115 to 127 jacketed hollow-point bullet weight.  The Glock Model 19 is probably the best all around 9mm in that it is rugged, dependable, user-friendly, hi cap, accurate and relatively compact.  As with any firearm, keep your finger outta the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot, store unloaded or in a holster that covers the trigger and only carry in a holster that does cover the trigger.

    Good luck.

  4. I'm a big fan of the Glock 19 in 9mm the Glock 23 is basically the same gun in .40 S/W.

My G19 has never jammed and is very easy to shoot.

  5. I prefer the Springfield Armory XD over the Glock or the P99. I do not know that much on CZ to give an opinion. I do not like .40 calibers either. I think the 9mm and .45 acp are much more smooth shooting.

Which ever one fits best in your hand is the one that you should pick.

  6. Best all around is one you practice with. For me thats a Smith&Wesson 5906.

  7. Well try looking at a Springfeild XD, anything in the Ruger P series or a Beretta 90-TWO.

  8. Personally  I carry the SW M&P .40

There is no need to debate as some have indicated.

The purchase of a handgun is a personal decision and you have to find the one that fits best and you  can grip comfortably, you certainly don't want to drop it in a moment of need.

    Good Luck

  9. I had this same question when I went to purchase a new pistol to carry.

The 9mm is simply the better bet. Whoever says's a 9mm is too small of a round does not know what they are talking about.

Just make sure to spend some extra money on good, effective rounds. This will make a huge difference in the potency of the gun.

  10. I'm not going to get into the whole 9mm vs. 40 debate because it really is a matter of personal opinion.  I really like Glocks, but if I were you, I would take a look at the Springfield XD pistols. They are very similar to a Glock, but I actually prefer my XD 40 to the Glocks a few of my friends have. Either way though, you really can't go wrong.

  11. glock 19

  12. The best all around handgun is any handgun that shoots 357 Magnum ammo.* It is a no nonsense man stopper, and you can also shoot 38 caliber ammo in it.* You get to handguns for the price of one.* It has been tried, true, tested, and proven to be the best handgun caliber.* Use 125 grain jacketed hollow points for self-defense ammo.*

  13. Whats best for me might not be best for you. Shoot all the guns you can. That is the only way you will know by how the guns feels what gun is the BEST FOR YOU
