  1. A McDermott is probably the most popular and gives you the best product for your money in a basic cue. Keep in mind no matter what brand you look at, the shafts are all basically the same. The price starts rising when you buy a cue with a fancy butt. The more inlays and ornate the are, the more they cost. Check out your local pool room and inquire about a McDermott. Whatever you do, don't go to Walmart or anyplace like that. Those cues are junk at best. I hope that helps.

  2. EBay have some nice cues on-line but watch out because they may be selling you a cue that us not straight. A straight cue is very important because it will give you dead on accuracy.

Other than that a cue with a 9.5 tip that is glued on is good because the 9.5 is good for spin and still gives you allot of control on the cue ball. With a removable tip you can add new tips like blue diamond and elk master.

The weight of the cue is important  if you want an average cue get one that weighs about 19 oz. A heavy cue give you powerful shot and a light cue gives you a spin shot.

Riley are a good make of cue.

  3. You're really not going to find anything decent in that price range unless it's used. McDermott's start at $120 or so. You used to be able to find a new Players cue for that price, but I don't think you'll find them for less that $90 or so anymore. They're only decent too, not really a great cue. My suggestion would be to save up another $100 or so and come back for more suggestions.

  4. I think Schmelke puts out a couple in that range, Player's too, both are decent first cues just to see how much you'll really like the game and improve, then you can move up to something better.

  5. If you can't spend more than 60 bucks then a players brand cue is probably your best bet. Go to beadsandbilliards.com , I think they have free shipping. Don't get a wally world or k mart stick. Absolute junk , not worth the energy it takes to make them. I understand the money situation but for another 50 or 60 bucks you could get a whole lot better pool cue than a players.
