  1. i am going to Punta Cana for a week in 9 days and we are staying at the Bavaro Princess resort. its rated a 5 star, which i know it won't be, but when you are booking, don't stay anywhere less than that. i read reviews on Trip advisor and one person will love the resort, and the next person will hate it. Just go with an open mind and remember you are staying in a 3rd world country, and if you want to find something to complain about in your resort, you will.  Just find someplace that you think looks beautiful, read what kind of restaurants they offer, and what kind of actiivities they offer. and if the price is right, go for it!!

  2. Try TripAdvisor.com.

  3. I've been there several times for work, which was related to the hospitality companies there.  I like the Melia in Punta Cana - it's gorgeous.  One of the best all around all inclusives though, is Fiesta Bavaro which is a short walk from the Melia.  They have a huge beach of sugar cane white sands, it's paradise.  I know they have a great spa, because I set up the fitness center which is also top notch.  Guys - here's a hint on the fitness center, the treadmills are in front of the windows facing the beach...what a view! lol  The service is fantastic and friendly, like most of the Dominican resorts.  The best is the variety of food, they have a lot of different restaurants (again all inclusive) from Asian, to classical Europoean, to seafood, just about anything you could want.  It's certainly my favorite.  Before I forget, the Dominican Republic is dirt cheap, regardless of where you stay.

  4. Stay away from all of them.  AI's are a major contributor to poverty in the country.  They have put many small business owners out of business, and the profits all go off to Europe except for the bribe money they give to the government officials for giving them business licenses.

You can take a vacation for the same price at a normal hotel and eat at a different restaurant of your choice each day.

  5. I would defiently try trip advisor. My friends relied on it when choosing the resort for their wedding.

Personally, we stayed at Grand Oasis marien. The only place i have stayed so i can't judge. But i found it to be wonderful. All inlcusive, the staff were friendly, the food was great. The pool was huge, you never had to fight for a spot.

We went to a pool club in the resort a lot and were amazed and the attention they payed to their daily bar decorations. Glasses of water arranged in patterns, with plants inside them. They were stunning

  6. We booked through www.cheapcaribbean.com and stayed at Tropical Lifestyles Resort in Puerta Plata and absolutely LOVED it!  We were surprised that even our transportation, alcohol (all of it!), and two excursions were inlcuded also.

I know you have so many choices (as listed above) just wanted to throw another one into the mix! Good luck and have fun on your trip :)

  7. First you need to select the region :

    - Puerto Plata 35 hotels

    - Juan Dolio    10 hotels

    -Boca Chica     3 hotels

    -Samana           2 hotels (or more)

    -Punta Cana   35 hotels

Then you have to select the type :

    - All inclusive

    - Normal

    - B & B hotels

    - Rural hotels

    - Boutique Hotels ( 4 ,5, 5+ stars)

But in the ' all inclusive' you have

    - Riu's

    -Iberostar

    - Blue Bay (only in Playa Dorada)

    -Melia (only in Punta Cana)

    -Excellence (only in Punta Cana)

I hope this helped a bit, just let me know exactly what you want to know.

  8. Excellence Punta Cana

  9. I like Excellence Punta Cana. One of the worst I stayed at was the Barcelo Dominican Beach Resort.
