I have 2 10" DVC Kicker comp Vr speakers each 350 RMS in a dual ported box. I wanna know what the best amp would be for under $300. I currenty have a kenwood 1000 watt mono amp model KAC-8104D, it just doesn't have enough power. it constantly cuts off when the bass hits moderately hard for a short period of time. thanks

  1. If you have the dual 2ohm voice coil subs then i would recommend this amp.

Wire your subs (series/parallel) to get a 2ohm load on your amp, here's a link to see how to do it.

    Follow the second diagram.

  2. Your problem is that if your subs are 4-ohm dual voice coil, then you probably have them wired for a 1-ohm load, which is too low for that Kenwood amp.

You either need to find a 1-ohm stable mono amp rated for around 600-700 watts at 1 ohm, or re-wire the subs for a total 4-ohm load and find an amp that produces that kind of power at 4 ohms.  The advantage to the second option is that your amp will run cooler and last longer.  The disadvantage is that amps with that kind of power at 4 ohms are harder to find and fairly expensive.

    Here's a mid-priced Alpine amp to check out:  http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/I...

Alpine's PDX-1.600 is pricier, but would also do a respectable job:
