Best and Cheapest way to record TV?

What is the best and cheapest way to record tv? I tried hooking the TV up to my laptop, but it was a huge mess, and I gave up. My windows XP wouldn't read my HP ExpressCard.. well anyways, I have a VCR, but I don't know how to record VERIZON fios tv on it.

  1. DVD burner, then rip the DVD on your PC. i personally like ImTOO DVD Ripper Platinum 4. that's the best and cheapest way!


  2. get a cheap tv tuner card off ebay for like 5 bucks

  3. Coax from wall into STB

    From output of STB into Input of VCR (I don't know your VCR so I cannot tell you the type of connection)

    Output of VCR into your TV. (Same as above, for type of vcr/tv)

    Now, put on all 3 pieces of equipment.

    Tune the TV/VCR as you did before FIOS.

    If you don't have a picture yet change the output station of the VCR till you can see the program on your TV.

    Once you have your image you are all set to record as before.  Just be aware that you CANNOT change the station you are recording as you will no record the whole program.  If you can afford it go with the DVR box.  With that you can record one program and watch a second, or you can record two programs and watch something else that you have recorded all at the same time.
