Best and Worst Draft Picks by Teams during the Past Decade -NHL Special Part 8
Columbus Blue Jackets (Central Division)
When people hear the name of the Columbus Blue Jackets, only disappointment comes to mind and unfortunately, the entry drafts of the past decade have not been any easier on them also.
There is really only one player that can be said to be something Columbus Blue Jackets did well on choosing, but the rest have just gone to waste without any apparent reason. When it comes to performing, it seems like Blue Jackets team is cursed and because
of that, their players are beginning to lose all hope.
Best Draft Pick of the Past Decade: Rick Nash (2002)
The best draft pick made by the Columbus Blue Jackets definitely has to be Rick Nash, selected as the first overall back in 2002. The captain has given his all to the team with a 547 point (289 goals, 258 assists) record in 674 games played, but it seems
like he has had enough of their failure, seeing how they made just one postseason in the past 10 years, and a trade could be inevitable this year.
There is no doubt that Rick Nash is one of the hottest players to be in negotiations this year and for Columbus, it is a disaster without a doubt. Columbus a hot player that can immediately fill in a leadership form and with their second overall pick this
year, it will be exciting to see who the Blue Jackets pick up.
Worst Draft Pick during the Past Decade: Nikita Filatov (2008)
There are just too many to name all at once when it comes to talking about the worst draft picks made by the Columbus Blue Jackets. The leading one would definitely have to be Nikita Filatov, who is now part of the Ottawa Senators line-up.
Being picked up as the sixth overall player back in 2008, Filatov tried hard to become a well known player but instead, just became well known in the worst possible way. His three entry-level seasons with Columbus were horrendous as he potted just 13 points
and barely got time on the ice but did pretty well in the minor league.
To this day, Nikita Filatov has not managed to play a full season in the NHL and it is not hard to see why at all.
Pascal Leclair (2001), Alexandre Picard (2004) and Gilbert Brule (2005) are also some worthy players to mention under this heading, which Columbus has picked over the past decade.
