Best and cheap way of cleaning fabric sofa?

i recently bought a fabric sofa which has started looking very worn out. specially the arm rest. i would like it to look spotless and clean.

upholstery foam.  use with moist big sponge and use dry towel to soak up moisture before allowing to air dry.  put something on the arms in future.  usually fabric couches are sold with arm thingies.  or you can make them from a fabric that looks good with the couch.

if the covers are removable, and you have a large washing machine, then that's the key, alongside steam cleaning the under frabric

I sold furniture several years and you have to be careful with certain materials. What kind of material is it? You can rent a rug machine, such as a rug doctor, from a grocery store or hardware and get the upholstery attachment and the solutionto clean it. I cleaned my cream sofa sectional and it looked awesome after I was done. If it is a cotton type material you should be fine. It's the micro-suede and jacquard fabrics that scream DANGER!  Good Luck!
