Hi, well i have owned a pair of pointe shoes for a little over a year now, unfortunatley my academy didn't do much of pointe while i was there so they never got completely broken in, there is still alot of cloth on the tips of them and they could be more flexible. what are some good ways to break them in? i start back up classes either next week or the week after that.

  1. walk around with them in like your drive way or some rough place to rough them up a bit but not too much just in moderation, and just wear them around your house and stuff just like if your just hanging around.

  2. You have had your pointe shoes for a year? That's insane! Mine only last 2 months. Maybe you aren't working through the shoes and using your feet enough.

  3. you say that there is a lot of cloth still on the tips that's fine but if you don't like that you should try getting suede toe pieces and glue then on. you can get them from your dance store. if you are going to wear then around the house wear socks over then cause that will prevent them getting dirty and also cause you shouldn't really be wearing them outside the studio.

to break them in i would do releves, rises and echappes. i broke mine in by stepping on the block (this is better than sticking in them door as that might damage them), giving them a good banging on the ground and bending them heel to toe both forwards and backwards right were the arch is. hope this helps happy dancing and good luck! =)

  4. You have to do about 32 releves and then about 32 pointe releves and try some easy stuff that you can do not jumps and stuff but more like tondus, fondus, developpes, and attitudes just simple stuff like that and to make them more flexibile put them between a door and squeeze it in REALLY hard open and close it like 4 times while counting to seven

    HOPE THIS HELPS!

  5. wear them around the house! just goof around in them!!!

and also...bend them in a doorway! that helps too!
