my mom gets major headaches and I really want to help her to get rid of them...she's got a full time job @ a daycare center so she's around kids all day and when she comes home she's sooo grumpy and sad

she's also a single parent and I know that she's got alot of stress but i miss my mom! whenever she's home she's complaining about the house and how it's such a mess but it's not that bad, and with 3 little brothers and younger sister (I'm 15) cleaning up after school is impossible, because all they do is make messes! Plus I've got a ton of hw to do and doing it with them at home is hard enough

I know that how I feel is times 10 worse for my mom

but sometimes I feel like I've got too much on my plate for a 15 year old! I would never quit doing what I do for her ut how can i help eliminate the stress or headaches...but I just want my mom to be happy again.... I miss that =(

thanks

  1. wow, amazing, you are an exact replica of me when i was fifteen!!!!

absolutly the same except im the second oldest, but i still was the one to watch my siblings, and my older sister....its was very difficult to get a grip on my priorities... do i choose school, the kids, my mom, and the list goes on. just not enough hrs in a day!!!

it is true, you do have too much on your plate, but there is not much you can do for your mom. for the headaches, i make sure my mom doesnt have any chocolate, and minimal caffiene, its not much but these are said to stop headaches, and so i try it anyways... in my opinion, the smallest relief from her pain is a great improvement.

i missed my mom alot, and so i did anything in my power to make her smile. for example, get your little brothers and sister to draw a picture for her, or have them help you cook something simple like macaroni and cheese and let them show thier masterpiece to your mom, teach them a favorate song, and all the lyrics, and have them sing to your mom. i try to come up with diffrent tings to make her smile. its amazing how much a smile in the morning can effect someones day.

as for you, it helps to talk to someone. maby a close friend. moral support is crusial for your own sanity, trust me.    i am now 17, and am still battling some of these same issues, but it gets easier. managing time and priorities become second nature (just think of it as a prep for when you move out  lol)  but always no matter what, make sure you have time for yourself to do what you like to do. for example, i set time at night after the kids go to bed to draw or paint or do whatever i feel like doing without the hassle of continous interuptions (for be this is about one or two in the morning, but it is worth losing sleep over...)

try staying at school an extra hr or two and finish you hmwrk thier. it will get done faster and you wont have crying babies bursting through the house every two minutes. then when you get home, unfinished hmwrk doesnt clog your mind...

    good luck!!!!!

  2. nah u dont have too much on ur plate, trust me i got more stuff on my plate. tell her to pop some of dem pills.

  3. You are doing a terrific job and you are not the problem. Don't take it personal she loves you. Maybe you can talk to your Mom and let her know that you have become stressed. (when she comes home stressed, it is stressing you) In today's life sweetheart it is so hard out here to make ends meet. Adults do go through a lot pressure these days.

Since Mom is coming home grumpy and sad, her problem is on the job and she need to deal with her superior so she would be able to work things out.

Some mothers that are under a lot of stress on their jobs don't know how to deal it.

Sweetheart you be encouraged. It will not be like this always.

  4. Set things up that home is a stress free place for her. Put in place simple routines that mean that a big cleanup is never necessary such as putting things away as soon as you have finished with them and cleaning things as you use them.

For many people, home is the only place a person can get away from the stresses of work. Try to help organise a time where you and your siblings can leave your mother to have some quiet time to herself to relax and unwind at the end of the day.

If you are 15 then your brothers and sister should be old enough to be able to do something to clean up after themselves. Basically if you do the small jobs as they arise it prevents them from escalating into big jobs.

  5. Tell her what you just wrote. If you can't tell her, write it down and let her read it.

  6. Try doing stuff she really enjoys doing...

  7. jw, why did you put this in the jokes and riddles section?

  8. take a deep breath and breath...the first step would to talk to your mom, just you and hear. You may not even understand what she's talking about, she works with a bunch of kids. she probably has no one to talk to.  Also try talking to an older family member , not to tell them your household business...maybe you know someone older who is good with kids who could volunteer to come over for a couple hours during the day that would occupy the kids while you're during homework and maybe suggest to your mom to get the kids on a schedule so when she gets home ( i don't know how late she gets in) the kids are on their way to bed and gives you two time to talk just a little bit. You have to start off small. Hey I understand I'm the oldest of 5 siblings..it will work itself out..and remember they are young but they have good memory..they will remember these times when their older..trust me!!!

    Hope it helps.
