  1. im using avira anti vir and its ok......its free

  2. Try AVAST for anti virus and SPYWARETERMINATOR for anti spyware. Both are free. Need a good firewall? Try COMODO PERSONAL FIREWALL.

    No need to spend money!

I have all  3 and they seem to live in harmony with each other.

    Hope this helps.

  3. i use sofos and firewall

  4. spyware doctor.................

  5. If you pay: norton

    If you don't: AVG

  6. McAfee or Windows Defender

  7. http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht...

  8. hi smileys, are you confused about all of your answers that you have like look t all of them some saids avg while others say norton and i see oe from mcafees are all of these people wrong or they right? they are very sincere about their answers so let's understand what happened...you ask a question and all of these people answered what has worked for them but i read up on the best virus protection on the market and i got the answer that most of the virus protection is very much alike. most of them offers trojan and this is the most important part of virus protection. i highly recommend that you get a virus protection that you have to register like norton or mcafee this is where your protection comes from. if you have vista i noticed someone mentioned windows defender which i have to agree it is a big benefit but this comes with vista. i read that a new virus is being created every thirty seconds so keep your protection on medium high and look for the security that you can download even if it cost a couple of bucks better to do this than to cost for a new computer. good luck hope i have been helpful to you

  9. Do not forget you need a firewall too.

zone alarm do a good free one that is probably the best in the world...

  10. There is no one BEST program for everyone!  Each person's individual computer usage is completely different.  Some folks download illegal programs and music, which exposes them to more infections than any other behavior.  Some folks only read their email and do some light surfing.

Because usage is different, the appropriate software is different for everyone.  Most of the time, several programs are necessary to maintain a full range of security.

Here is a list of free programs that do their job well, for various security tasks:

    ANTI-VIRUS:

    AVG by Grisoft

    Avira

    Avast

Any one of these would probably work well for you!  Read the reviews to be sure.

    ANTI-SPYWARE:

Since NONE of the anti-spyware/anti-adware programs are 100% accurate in finding and removing spyware, you need at least two programs which you will run one after the other, not at the same time.

There are three excellent free ones:

    --Spybot, Search and Destroy

    --Ad-Aware

    --Spyware Blaster

    FIREWALL:

    Comodo

    Online Armor

    SandBoxie

    Sunbelt Personal Firewall (formerly Kerio)

    Zone Alarm

    GENERAL CLEANING:

    Ccleaner

    HTH!

There is a safe site, with software reviews by both the editors and users at download.com  Most of these programs can be downloaded from there.

  11. eset nod 32 is what i use and its great!  You have to pay but you get what you pay for

  12. try the AVG one its great, and free.

  13. AVG is the best look at this, this proves that it has the best rating by along way off oh and it's free

  14. A very good, free anti-virus available to download is AVG 8 Anti-virus:

    http://www.free.grisoft.com

And for any spyware problems, get SpyBot - Search and Destroy:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirro...

Both are free, as powerful as paid programs, like Norton and McAfee, and don't use up as many resources.

Just boot into Safe Mode (Press F8 when turning on the computer) and run full scans.

    Hope that helps.
