Norton and Macafee will slow your system right down. Go to  eset.com and get Nod antivirus, or for free get avg from grisoft

depends on what you want to do...

i use a trend micro 2006, bec i find it not too strong nor too weak. i don't even turn my firewall on. i dont have any problems with my pc, and it is online 24/7.

i also use pandasecurity's activescan, which acts as a backup to my antivirus on my pc.

most people want a free antivirus, but i just feel that avg is too weak. while norton is too strong that it hogs all memory and can hang your pc.

i think windows live onecare is good, because you can do a lot of things with it. you can clean you pc, defrag it, scan andclean it of viruses and spywares, backup it up, and it updates your windows. i think it is free for 90 days.

The best free antivirus is either AVG or Avira Antivir. The best commercial antivirus is Nod32, hands down!

Kepersky is a new anti virus developed by the russians that uses amazing detection technology, it is ranked number one. Me personally i use windows live one care because it lets you put it on 3 computers and it also backs your files on a schedule. Nice to not think of those things. Also it only cost me 29.95 at Wal-mart and then to re download it online twice. Never had a problem. But norton anti virusus, mcafee are ranked 2 and 3. And if your cheap avg 8.0 free is free on downloads.com.

use malwarebytes at malwarebytes.org to scan for viruses and delete them

a lot of viruses are undetectable by norton and avg

Norton is useless and it slows your system down. Go with one of the free ones they work very well.
