Best area to live in London?

Question

Which areas in london are safest/cleanest/with a good selection of restaurants and stores? I've heard chelsea and notting hill? Anywhere else recommended, and why or why not?

well i think the best places in London are Windsor and stoke on trend and Staffard shire  are the best places they have quiet and nature and lakes  very beautiful i hope u go to them

the choice is huge as is the broad nature of your question. You need to specify your budget. As usual the further out you go the cheaper are the prices for the same type of house and facilities.  The suburns takes in places like Hampsted Garden Suburbs or slightly cheaper golders green and hendon. As for safe well all the decent areas are safe. Its the housing estates and deprived areas where you will find problems.

That really depends on how much money you've got!!!

Yeah Chelsea is lovely. So is Hampstead,  Richmond or Chiswick.

But if you're on a modest income you might need to look at Crouch End, Finsbury Park, or Acton.

Knightsbridge, Swiss Cottage, Maida Vale, Notting Hill, Hampstead, & Chelsea are all considered about as good as you can get.

Personally I'd never move to London, as the streets are generally congested, it's dirty, and full of foreigners, prostitutes and pickpockets.....

Not to mention the odd closet suicide bomber.

It's how much money you have.  Holland Park is good, a bit more space than other expensive areas.  Belgravia, Kensington and Chelsea, are central, with everything in reach, but congested.  Parts of Battersea are cheaper and nice for the money, but on the wrong side of the river.  Richmond and Kew are residential, but further out.  St Johns Wood, and immediately north east of Regents Park are popular with Americans.  Hampstead is good.
