Best bang for buck when it comes to laptop?

I want to buy a laptop that will work for games and multimedia. I need to have a laptop just because of the way my life is. :-) don't say 'get a desktop'. The most gameing that I'll do with it though is basically Guild Wars- but I would like the options to play higher games as well...

I was looking Toshiba Qosmio at this location:

http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.to?seg=HHO&poid=419828&coid=-36236

Thats about as much as I can spend- it looks like a great computer - does anyone see where it might not be good? I think it's AMAZING for the price.. How can they make it cheaper compared to other brands?

I was also looking at HP.

Give some links please.

Also the highest I can go on price is pretty much 1400 dollars.

Thanks

  1. I have a Toshiba & i love it!

I'm not a fan of HP's, i have a friend who has been having a load of trouble w/ hers. I say go for the Toshiba, they're reliable & reasonably priced.

  2. That Toshiba isn't worth $1300. 9200M GS is bad.

Best bang for the buck would be this $700 HP with a RM-70 and that nice and fast HD3200 IGP. I'm just comparing potential vs. price.

  3. Check out Lenovo Thinkpads - they are a dream to type and I bought this configuration 3 months ago for 650$ (Intel Core2Duo 2GHz, 2GB RAM, 120GB HDD, 9 cell extended battery, DVD Burner, 14.1" 1440x900 resolution (although 15.4 was same price) ) - For 300-400 more you can get oodles of RAM, more diskspace and a dedicated graphics controller).

They actually have a sale now (coupon code is UPSSAVENOW or USPSAVENOW)
