Best bank to deal with in canada?

Hey, i am moving and want to find a good bank, there are alot of big chains out there like royal bank, td, hsbc, which are the best?

  1. the big 5 are all about the same

    the is virtually no competition here for the consumer  shopping for banking services

    it is an oligopoly situation here

    so there is little to choose from among the big 5


  2. td has the least exposure to the US subprime meltdown of the 5 canadian banks. all the other 4 have had big writedowns lately. so if you are worried about stability in these uncertain times, it is probably the safest.

    however they are all pretty safe in my opinion.

    I bank at rbc and am very happy with it.

  3. PC Financial (no fees & owned by CIBC so you can use CIBC ATMs for free), and Manulife Bank.


  4. BMO or TD are your best bet.

    RBC I'm neutral, I havent heard anything about them either way.

    CIBC *DO NOT* put your money there, I've heard nothing but bad stories and their rates are higher than everyone else.
