Best bars in downtown San Jose?

I live in L.A. and my best friend & I are going to San Jose one night for a concert. We're staying at a hotel downtown and were wondering what the best bars are within walking distance??

Check out Fahrenheit, the Loft, Gordon Biersch, or Vault.  You shouldn't have any problem finding a bar downtown.

The best bars are NOT in San Jose.  In fact, there is no place in Downtown San Jose that I would recommend.  To put it lightly the crowd tends to be, how do you say, ghetto.  Just read the following articles...

You're much better off going to either Santana Row, Downtown Campbell, Downtown Los Gatos or all three which are just a short (3 miles) and cheap ($10) cab ride away.
