  1. Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez

  2. Ha, I loved "Latrine Hawkins"

  3. John Rocker the raciest lol

  4. I thought this list was pretty good:

  5. Dork Ruth?

    Dork Cobb?

    Dork Speaker?

    Dork Alexander?

Put Dork in front of any great ball player's name.

  6. I miss the days when players had cool nicknames, like Doctor K and Oil Can Boyd and the Mad Hungarian and Dr. Strangeglove. Forget anything as poetic as the Splendid Splinter; we don't even bother to call lefties "Lefty" anymore. Granted, not all old-time nicknames were winners: I'll give you one guess how "Fat" Freddie Fitzsimmons and Mordecai "Three-Finger" Brown got theirs. But Jeff "Bags" Bagwell? We can do better, people.

My favorite will always be shoeless joe...i'm sure he always wore shoes on game day.

  7. Frank "The Big Hurt" Thomas

  8. alfonso "thunderhands" soriano. tim mccarver used that term during a cubs-dodgers game a while back.

  9. cc sabathia " fire ball "

    d. matsuzaka " the monster "

  10. Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd

  11. Fred "Crime Dog" McGriff

    Greg "Mad Dog" Maddux

  12. im a cards fan, so i guess ill throw out "Dizzy" Dean, Stan the Man, and Red

  13. Dude, you listed some good ones...  how about

    Joltin Joe DiMaggio

Tommy LaSorda tagged his smallish pitcher "The Bulldog" (Orel Hershiser)

and gave him the confidence to win a world series with L.A.

They called Pedro Bourbon the Rubber Man.  He was a strong pitcher from the Dominican (I believe) who would warm up by throwing the ball to the roof of the Houston Astrodome, and you know how high that is...his arm was rubber, it was forever.

Steve Sax was tagged "Saxy" by the ladies because of his good looks.

Ron Cey was called the "Penguin" because of his walk.  He was under 5' 10" with less than 5% body fat.  Unreal.

And last but not least...it hasn't hit the news yet, but he was just traded from San Diego to the Astro's, Randy Wolf, who has an entire fan club who follow him everywhere, they are called the Wolf-pack, Randy's nic-name is Wolfman, left-handed pitcher and a very cool dude.  The music they played as he walked to the mound was perfect, I just wish I could remember the name of it.  Sorry.

Hope this adds to your collection.

    Mike

  14. "Prince Albert"

  15. Mike "Moonman" Shannon

Johnny "Ugly" Dickshot (I swear to FSM I am not making that up, Google it if you don't believe that's his real name)

    "Double X" Jimmie Foxx

Paul "Big Poison" Waner, and his brother Lloyd "Little Poison" Waner

The Dean brothers, "Dizzy" and "Daffy"

    Pete Rose "Charlie Hustle"

    “Old Tomato Face” Gabby Hartnett

    “Piano Legs” Charlie Hickman

    Leo "The Lip" Durocher

    Richard "Stubby" Clapp

    Johnny Lee "Blue Moon" Odom

    "Black Jack" Jack McDowell

Willie "ETs Stunt-Double" McGee (ok, that's not a real one, but it should be)

  16. Mitch Williams "Wild Thing"

    Lenny Dykstra "Nails"

    Garry Mathews "Sarge"

  17. stan the man or josh hamilton "the natural"

  18. Physco!! Steve lyons, Boston Red Sox! Fox Sports for a while!

  19. Bob "Death To Flying Things" Ferguson

    Hugh "Losing Pitcher" Mulcahy

    Babe.

  20. Shoeless Joe, or how bout the always classy, and the most used AROD. When ever he is talked about, people use AROD you  dont ever say his real-name, even the yankee announcers. OR how bout Babe for George Herman RUth

  21. We must give Chris Berman of ESPN his due here.  He has come up with dozens of great nicknames that come from the given name, a very creative series.  My favorite of his was Bert "Be Home" Blyleven.  Also, Chuck "New Kids on" Knoblach and Larry "Satin" Sheets, just to recall a few.
