Best batsmen should play in the top-order, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Alan-Gooch-c60530 – Cricket News Update
The batting coach of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, Graham Gooch, believes that the best batsmen of a team must bat higher up the order, so that they can utilise the most number of overs to make the greatest impact.
The former England captain was referring to the promotion of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011 and later in different limited-overs competitions. The 31-year-old batsman retired from One Day Internationals (ODIs)
and T20 Internationals last month, stating busy schedule as the reason.
Gooch defended the English management’s decision and expressed that Pietersen has the ability to change the course of a match within a short span of time and that is why he was asked to start the innings for the Poms.
"I was always in favour of Kevin Pietersen opening the batting because I'm always in favour putting your best players in one-day and Twenty20 cricket top of the order; give them all the overs to make an impact," he said.

scored consecutive hundreds in the last two 50-overs matches that he played.
Some of the sport’s pundits are of the opinion that Pietersen’s retirement will hurt England in limited-overs cricket and he will be hard to replace.
However, Gooch is seeing light at the end of the tunnel and claims that the great batsman’s retirement may turn out to be a ‘blessing in disguise’ for England, as it will give a chance to younger players to showcase their talent and cement their places in
the national team.
Gooch believes, "Life moves on, one door closes and another one opens. So you got to look at from the team’s point of view as an opportunity for someone else to make his mark, to represent his country, to win games for his country. I look it as an opportunity
for another young player to grab that chance."
