  1. the beaches are beautiful throughout the island really. and many places you will get people trying to sell you stuff so perhaps you should look at a hotel with a private beach. we stayed in cabarete and loved the beach there, as it also had kite surfing and the small town, which was right off the beach. we also had a hotel on the beach so we didn't have to walk anywhere and we could take our drinks etc on the beach. that hotel was tangerine, and it was brilliant, no problems with upset stomachs either.

the other place i'd strongly recommend is the area of bahia maimon. its much quieter and in my opinion has the best landscapes and beaches around. with it being quieter there's less locals on the beach. i think there's only 3 hotels there, but they run lots of trips and have everything you really need in the complex. the rui bachata is the best in my opinion.

as mentioned by someone else, i'd also recommend a trip to samona.

  2. The best beach in DR is Bavaro, Punta Cana.

It is rated one of the best in the world!

  3. The best beach is Sosua.  I don't know what you mean by which Hotel has the best beach, there are alot of hotels in Sosua.

I hope you aren't thinking about one of those rip-off all-inclusives.

  4. Ive been twice, once to playa dorada and the beach was gorgeous, and once to the south ( i think ity was san pedro de marcois) which was also gorgeous.  The scuba diving was best in the North i thought but in the south there were shoals of fish right off the beach that you r could snorkle through.  Go to Saona on the day trip, its where they filmed the bounty and bacardi adverts and is absolutley gorgeous white sand. Lovely island, my fav holiday destination.

Also try the white water rafting - takes ages to get to it but is well worth it.  The jeep safari is really good too and they do all from most places on the island.  Im jealous!  I want to go!

  5. I've been twice but to be honest i can only recommend. The first resort was Bahia Principe but over the years that's had so many issues with illnesses. Last year i was meant to go but instead i got transported to Riu Mambo instead in Puerto Plata. This is 3 resorts in one area. The beach is stunning but the sea is a bit rocky in places. Still really pretty. 3 big swimming pools over all. All inclusive. You can go into any of the restaurents (Although they say you can't, they don't ask) Check it out. x

  6. The beaches near Playa Dorada/Puerto Plata in the North. Stay at the Riu Merengue Hotel (higher quality than the Riu Mambo next door)...it's great. The banana juice at breakfast is divine. remember to go horse riding through the sugar cane fields...exhilarating.

  7. Hi !, As you can read the majority of the people who traveled, tells you the north coast is the best and not only for the beaches. Also for the various type of beaches!. Playa Dorada, Costa Dorada, Puerto Plata is one enormous beach, so nice and clean! There you will find more than 25 hotels/resorts. At the other side of Puerto Plata you will find Cofresi with 3 hotels and in Maimon you will find the mentioned RIU's resorts. So choice enough! It's up to you now. Happy to help you
