Question:

Best bedding you use for your rabbits?

At the moment I use newspaper for my large cage home to two of my rabbits.

(Yes one is spayed. I do not beleive in breeding if you are not a breeder.)

Now I know for a fact if they eat it you should not use it but they dont, they LOVE to shred it! It's extremely annoying because I will clean their cage and the next day it looks horrible again!

Any ideas for some other beddings to use?

  1. My all time favorite has to be Carefresh Bedding. It keeps odors low, if they eat a bit of it- its totally harmless, and is biodegradable.

  2. I use timothy hay for my rabbit, she eats it and builds nests with it in her cage, and it's safe for them.

  3. I use Yesterday's News cat litter.  It's a paper based pelleted cat litter so it's not a big deal it your rabbit nibbles on some.

  4. I've tried shredded paper and newspaper and it worked horribly.

I've done word shavings and they were worst.

Right now I use cell-sorb-plus, it's a recycled cardboard product. I have to do a whole cage cleaning every week or two and the litter box every couple of days.

    There's more suggestions.

Although, a common complaint with carefresh is rabbits tend to eat a lot of it.

  5. Have you tried CareFresh bedding? It's clean, natural, reasonably priced, and available at most pet stores.

  6. For my rabbit's bedding, I either use Carefresh Ultra bedding or Kaytee Soft-Sorbent bedding that smells like lavendar. Both are clean and lasts a long time.

For her little litter box, I use Yesterday's News Pellets, but I dont' buy the bag for small animals, I buy the bag in the cat section (the one with cat's on it). For some reason, the stores charge you more for the small animal kind than the cat and it's the same exact product. (And I don't know why I'd get a thumbs down for this answer. It's too the point and gives an answer one would expect)

  7. you should buy the beddings they sell at the pet store, the light brown, tan kind..
