I found some loose earl grey tea from France in my cabinet. There was no seal over the top and it said best before 2003 on it, but it smelled ok and I really want to have some. Is it safe to drink tea past the best before date?

  1. Tea leaves are dried, I would say it is ok to drink. The most you might get is a run to the loo.

  2. it could have a mold or fungal infection  growing on it that is bad.

    or bacteria

    why bother?

just buy some new tea, and if you ant find this brand, it isn't that much of a loss

  3. it should be fine, it just won't taste as good as fresh

  4. I don't know about 2003 but if it was last year, I would use it...I mean it's tea...dried tea...yeah just go ahead.

    Hope this helped
