I want to get into racing again in the 250cc class but I have hardly a clue what bike to get. I was looking at a yz250f or a cr250f but I don't know if a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke is better to race and which brand is better. Please help.

  1. you need twice the cc(cubic centimeters) in 4 stroke to race 2 strokes. Im pretty sure popular companies like honda and yamaha are going to stop making the line of 2 strokes.

Do you have any experience on a dirtbike? Honda, yamaha, suzuki, kawasaki would not be racing in the same classes if one brand had a real advantage over the other brand. I would pick a color (pick honda) Honda is awesome.

Look at the crf-250r. Its a great bike. It also has 2 exhaust systems, so it looks sick

    Good luck

  2. You definitely do not want a 2 stroke for motocross racing. It is competitive enough without putting yourself at a disadvantage from the start. Sounds like you are a beginner so I would highly recommend the Kawasaki KX250F. It has the best engine for novice racers.

  3. If it were me I would go for a 250f as the country I am in quite often they have to race against the 2 stroke 125cc and if you happen to be on the 2 stroke smoker then you are usually outclassed or have to ride your pants off to stay ahead.  It does make you a better rider in a sense and I have watched my son beat 250f's simply by riding better but he prefers his 250f for racing.

I think in America a new ruling has been made that the 2 stroke 125cc race in their own class so that does make it a bit fairer, but I would still go for the 250f

What one really comes down to personal preference.  both my sons have the crf250r and we have found them quite a good bike.  The kx250f 2008 model has had very good reviews so you could look at them.  but really any of the known brands would be fine.

  4. The bikes you are considering are both good bikes. The best rider will win on any brand so just pick one and go fast.

  5. both bikes are great bikes. you really cannot go wrong with either of them.......

but stay away from the 2 stroke. They are good bikes, but they are underpowered....

  6. both are grate bikes

  7. 4 strokes are whats being raced these days, so go Fs. id recommend either the suzuki RMZ250 or the KX250f. these bikes are both great and made by great companies, The kawasaki was voted the best 250f of 2008 so id try getting that one.

  8. Suzuki JR50 with training wheels.
