I'm about 270 lbs--I've already lost 30--and I've decided that I want to buy a bike to help add more exercise into my day. What suggestions do you have for a bike? I'd like to ride it around town and on the bike paths. Please help! Thanks! =)

  1. I rode at 260 lbs,  No big deal.

The giant suede is very popular, and,  for lots of comfort consider the Day 6; but pricey

  2. I don't think you want a mountain bike to ride around on the streets, instead look for a comfort bike that you can ride on bike paths.

The fit is the most important thing on riding a bike.  All of the manufactures have a wide range of bikes that will suit your needs.

I was looking at a Raleigh 4.0 that was nice before I bought a Forge Saranac. Check with your local bike shop and tell them what you are looking for.  I  can do my own repairs and tune ups so that is why I went with the Forge.

Look at Giant,GT,Raleigh, Specialized, and several others.

  3. I'm pretty heavy myself and I have found that adult tricycles are pretty comfortable. They generally have large seats that have good cushioning. Also, if it has a basket on the back, you can go shopping with it. Just remember to get a good lock with a cable as a chain.

  4. SWIM  Tricle from Walmart. Good price and pretty color blue if you

like the color. They have to assemble it for you if you ask,but if you

want to assemble it yourself  make sure everything is in the box before

you leave the store and you can change the seat later to your liking.

Always feel good about yourself one day at the time. I hope this work

    for you

  5. I would go with a mountian bike, Sturdy frame, options of a ten speed, with bigger tires...congrats on your weight loss...hope this helps
