Best brand of CD recordable media?

Is there such a thing as an affordable CD-R brand out there with next to 1% waste while burning? So far, I've used brands like Memorex, TDK, CompUSA, HP, Maxell, Fuji, some generics (unbranded) from Fry's, Circuit City, Amazon, Tiger Direct and Computer Geeks. Previous discs from TDK and Maxell faired well but not the ones you get today. I used Nero and Sonic for my burning needs and it hurts to keep wasting blanks to errors due to incompatibility issues. Help!!!

I've always used Memorex or Sony and never had any problems.
