macs are good but over priced, toshiba is probably one of the best PC brands around, Dell is also really good, HP i would stay clear of unless you want a gaming laptop then you can go with their Alienware subdivision

My dad's an SA (Systems Administrator) for a major title company, and recommended Toshiba.

I have since bought one and LOVE it!! He said regardless steer clear of Gateways & E-machines!!
