Best buy HD mini-dv digital camcorder with broadcast quality for Apple for imovie and final cut under $ 600?

I hope to find a professional quality video camcorder that is compatible with my MacBook Pro laptop, imovie editing software, and as I improve my editing skills, Final Cut Pro, etc. Do you have any suggestions for the best bargains under $600? $300 - $500?

This camera should grow with me as my ambition rises from home video to possible web and television projects.

What features should I definitely look for? What is the best place to buy? I need the camera by Wednesday, June 11th.

Also, do you have any websites that will help me narrow my focus for the best camera I can afford?

I live in Australia so I cannot help with prices etc but I can recommend the Sanyo range of video cameras:

VPC-HD1, HD2, etc.

The best thing is that they record in mpeg4 format which goes straight onto a mac and imovie.

I have a youtube site in which all the clips were recorded with a older standard definition version of this camera.
