Question:

Best buy: store credit vs. gift card?

I recently completed a "Product Replacement Plan" from Best Buy in which Best Buy sent me a $419 store credit in return for my broken Xbox 360. Here's where it gets tricky:

An Xbox 360 console no longer costs $419, and even if it did I don't need the "premium" bundle because I still have leftover accessories from the first one.

In theory I should be able to buy $419 worth of product from Best Buy (likely a $279 "barebone" Xbox and $140 on other items) but somebody told me that a store credit issued through Best Buy's "Product Replacement Plan" is only usable for ONE ITEM of equal or lesser value. So, according to this person, I'd be only able to get another Xbox and the rest of the card's value would be scrapped (which, would be fair...I can't complain).

I figured maybe somebody else did a Best Buy PRP and would know. There's so many people on here - it's worth a try.

Thanks.

  1. listen not to scamming advise.  call best buy customer service to find out the truth.  it is unlikely that what you were told is true.

whatever you do, don't scam anyone, we all (and you included) pay in the end when you do.

    .

  2. gift card. you can always give it away as a gift

  3. you could buy the same xBox, return it the next day without a receipt and then get store credit to use towards whatever you want!!  scam the man!
