Question:

Best car for hauling a wheelchair?

We need a practical car to haul a wheelchair now. Some type of mini suv type that must sit low to the ground to make it easy for them to get in and out of the car and some type of hatch back to make it easy to load instead of trying to put the wheelchair in the back seat. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated. Looking for something with a good history of dependability too!

  1. chevy hhr. the cargo area is huge, more than  some small suv's,its low to the ground(a little higher than most cars and a lt lower than any suv)and it gets 30 mpg and it only cost about 16k

  2. I think any minivan would do the job here's one

  3. Is this temporary with a push wheelchair or long term with power? If long term bite the bullet and get a van with a chair lift, captains chairs and hand controls for the handicapped, short term forget the mini Suv they are too hi, get a station wagon.

  4. Take a look at the Honda Element. I have a friend in a similar situation and this is what they use.
