Best carpet for kids and dogs?

I am getting new carpeting in my home in a couple of weeks. What is the best type to get for kids and pets? I need something that is easily cleaned and lasts a LONG time.

Berber.  It doesn't ware like pile carpet, it comes in just as many colors and cleans up easily.

The color also matters. Try to not get a color that will show all your pet hair. And ask the carpet company. It's their job to know
