  1. yes is it

  2. I suggest Costa Rica.  I have friends from there, and friends who have lived there, and friends who have visited there.  I think you'll like it, if you are set on Central America.

  3. Each one of the Central American countries has it's good and bad points.  Depending on what you want,  Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua have the lowest cost of living but also have the least infrastructure (which is not always bad).  Costa Rica, Panama and Belize have the highest living expenses but probably offer more of what you are used to in your own county.  They all have beautiful women, friendly people, excellent Spanish Immersion courses, and beautiful geography.

You need to do a bit of research on your own and above all, don't move anywhere without visiting at least once, preferably, several times.

  4. I definitely agree that before moving you should do some research on your own and ideally visit the country.

That aside, I'll tell you what I know. Well, you've got to think this though. These countries are not lacking any comodities, lifestyle, etc. Their main problem is that MOST people don't make enough money for their survival and very few ARE DISGUSTINGLY RICH. So, their problem's the economical unbalance, their weak (almost inexistent) middle class. A good economy relies on a strong middle class (that creates balance). Bottom line, they are not lacking nice malls, high class lifestyle, fancy cars, mansions, etc. all of that's available, it's just that most people can't afford it. Now, you are going from a good starting point, with dollards/euros that multiple once you move there and the cost of living's really cheap. Meaning, you are going to have a nice life no matter what central american country you go to and plenty of places where to spend your money to acquire what you need.

All Central America has what you need economically speaking and they all are stable and don't have internal wars or anything like that. So, their economy isn't the best for the situation I explained before, but it is stable and that's all you need, since their unbalance has nothing to do with you and won't affect you.  Infrastructure's pretty much the same, some have it a little better than others, but nothing drastic to make a significant difference from one another. Women, they all have pretty good looking women, though you won't see them walking down the streets. It will be mostly in social places/events (nice restaurants, clubs, touristy areas, sporting events, etc.). Soccer's IT over there, so become a fan, because now that the World Cup's coming up, they'll all come out wearing s**y stuff to watch the game in sports bars and such.

To learn spanish, there is no beating Guatemala. Their schools are the best and the country is really beautiful. It's a tiny country but you find almost everything you need for sightseeing: Beaches (they are not that pretty though, I must warn you, but you will definitely have fun anyway), ancient cities (from the baroque spanish era), the biggest mayan city with the most pyramids (Peten), great music and festive caribbean invironment (Izabal), their national bird's a rare species and such a pretty bird, you can actually see it mating in march (Coban), great climbing (they have about 32 volcanoes, some of them still active), the most culture variety (27 languages, most of them indigenous, plus the garifunas-african descent). One of the most beautiful lakes sorrounded by 3 volcanoes (Solola). Variety of climates, nationally grown (and fresh) vegetables and fruits. Guatemala's a dream if you have some cash with ya and like I said, almost everything's so cheap.

Good luck finding what you need ;)

  5. Costa Rica is a very safe country, probably that most advanced when you are talking about poverty and education.  They don't have that many poor people, they also have good looking women.  Eventhough every country has them it's easier to find them in Costa Rica.  However, their infrastructure is not very advanced.  The city is just like a town.   I would say panama is the most advanced country in Central America.

If you want to learn spanish, however, there is no better country to do it than in Guatemala.  There is a city there called Antigua, and it's famous for it's spanish schools and it's full of people that are there for the same reason.  It's a small antique city and is  very safe and there's always parties going on and ladies from Guatemala and from all around the world.

  6. I am living in Buenos Aires, Argentina right now and i feel that it is a great place. They bounced back from economic failure and everything is very cheap. Also the country is very diverse it is called the Europe of the South it has imigrants from all over and in the city it has all the stores that you can find in Paris. Its not like most Latin American Countries you really cant tell whos an Argentine there are blondes brunnetes red head, people with dark skin people with white skin.

Also the country is very safe. On each street there is assigned patrolers that keep watch all day and all night.

Over all i would say the Argentina is the best in South America.

But in Central America i have to say that Panama is the best because i am Panamanian. Its not the city i feel is the best you have to look outside there. The people are amazing if you need help they will help you no matter what everyone is family and family is the most important thing in their lives. also the landscape of panama is beautiful you just have to go there to actually experience the natural wonder. I say that Panama is the best country in central america

  7. I live 1/2 of the time in Colombia. Great city. Very clear Spanish. Lots of things to see. Cartagena, San Augustin, Calenas, Ciudad Perdida, Los Katios, Gorgona, Guapi, Piedras de Tunja, The Cathedral made of salt (Zipaquira), Melgar, Giradot, Colpatria Tower, Monserrate, Gold Museum, Fishing at lake Neusa, San Andres Island, Santa Marta, Tayrona, More to see, do, visit than you could accomplish in 10 lifetimes.

  8. PANAMA

  9. Well, I live in Honduras and love it, but it doesn't have the best economy.  An American dollar can go a long way, but the country in general has one of the lowest GDP's in the western hemisphere.  As for the best in infrastructure and economy, Belize and Costa Rica are probably the 2 best.

If you are wanting to study Spanish, I have heard from many friends that Guatemala is the best place to study.  The accent is good and there are a ton of language schools, especially in Antigua.
