Best cheap places to stay in venice?

I highly recommend Hotel Calderan. I have stayed there on two separate occasions, in 2000 and again in 2006. It is close to the train station (no lugging your bags over the Venetian bridges or paying $6 for a one way trip on the vaporetto), just upstairs from a bookstore, and the staff are very friendly. They have both dorm bed accomodations and private rooms. My fiance and I stayed here in June for 3 days and our private room had a private bath (though down the hall) and a private balcony overlooking the campo for only 65 euro a night.

Venice is one of the most expensive places to stay in Europe... but it´s worth it!

None decent one in Venice.

Stay at Mestre (the city beside), and go to Venice by bus or by car, is really near and its plenty of great hotels at a much lower price.
