Best/cheapest way to travel to Australia?

I love to travel and get plenty of vacation time, but with all my traveling I'm running low on money to do it. Also I've decided to take my boyfriend on my next travel, which is to Australia and he can't exactly afford it either. Can anyone give any good advice on the cheapest/best way to travel to and around Australia and the good places to go to get the most out of a TWO WEEK vacation?

If your from North America the only direct flight available is from Vancouver in Canada to Sydney with Air Canada, which will save you some money.

i live in australia!!!!!

i vist overseas reguly and the cheepest way was flight i would say get a flight to somewere in asia and then get a flight to australia with either virgin blue or jet star (very cheep)

1.sydney it has heaps of touresty things

2.brisbane very pretty and good theme parks

3.perth good shopping

Stay in backpacker/hostel accommodation. For two weeks on a budget limit your stay to two locations not excessively far apart, eg Sydney and somewhere else depending on your interests such as the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Byron Bay, Canberra, NSW coast, Tasmania etc.
