Best cheese to serve with champagne?

Having an all day event at a luxury retail boutique and was wondering what the best cheese to use since it is an all day event and I will need to continue to freshen up the cheese plate all day. want it to look nice all day. Afraid a brie would look terrible very soon.

  1. There are many nice cheeses that go well with champagne.  I would cut them into small enough pieces (about 1/4 lb) so that you can just replace them frequently.  

    I suggest:

    A fresh goat cheese log, with or without herbs

    Something semi-soft, like Parrano, which is a combination of gouda & parmesean

    A triple or double creme, such as a St. Andre or some type of brie.  

    As long as you refresh the plate it will look nice.  To arrange it, purchase false grape leaves (they are large and flat), put them onto a platter and then put one cheese atop each leaf.  Then you can just replace each leaf when necessary.  Add some red and green grapes as well.

  6. That is hard to keep fresh.

    First make sure the table on which you will place the cheese is cooler than the room temperature. That helps, some. Go to the butcher shoppe and ask the butcher. He's the best source for your question.

    Good luck. Make sure you have plenty of grapes around. Some people prefer grapes with cheese because they do not do "wine (champagne)".

  8. Camembert cheese.  It is  VERY fancy and tastes great with champagne.  Get water crackers to spread the cheese on.

    A fresh look is good with Camembert.  Good taste is paramount.  To impress your customers be sure the cheese is not a common one.

    P.S.  I also like strawberries with my champagne.  They are so refreshing on a warm day.

  9. It depends on the brie, which is one of the only things I would serve with champagne.

    You can absolutely find some harder varieties of brie.  Not all of them melt quickly.  If you go to Whole Foods, the person behind the counter can tell you which will hold up better.

    Also, some lighter varieties of swiss would do really well with champagne.

    Make sure you serve strawberries, sliced GREEN apples, a grainy cracker/bread, and a few jars of inexpensive "caviar" (roe) will really impress.

    Give me champagne and brie ANY day:)

    Brie

    Brie is a soft, creamy French cheese that is best served very fresh. This goes wonderfully with a gentle Champagne, something light and fruity.

    Mild cheddar

    Cheddar is an English cheese that most people have tried at some point. The French and the English may not get along all too well, but the cheeses certainly do! Choose a mild, young cheddar; it will go well with some of the sharper, brighter Champagnes.

    Chevre

    How appropriate! Chevre is the French word for "goat cheese". Make sure it's fresh, and it will have a mild but tangy flavor to it. Use this with the stronger Champagnes that have a bit of kick to them.

    Colby

    Colby is a hard, mild cheese often associated with Port. It's originally from Wisconsin, and does go very well with Champagne as well. Try this with a medium-bodied Champagne.

    Edam

    Edam is a semi-hard, creamy cheese from Holland. It's slightly nutty, so it's a great pairing with the many Champagnes that have that nutty undertone to them.

    Gouda

    Gouda is another Dutch cheese, this one hard and smooth. As it also has a nutty flavor to it, it also pairs wonderfully with the nutty Champagnes.

    Brie is a great with champagne but here are some harder cheeses that might meet your needs.
