I like to take lots of pics with my friends on bright and sunny days or even at night! What camera brand would be best?

I had the Nikon Coolpix as well and didn't like it either.  I now have a Pentax that I love.  It takes great close ups and action photos.  The best part is that it is simple to operate.

Check out the Canon Powershot A series.  They are good cameras and come in a variety of prices.  Whatever camera you get, be sure to get one with a viewfinder, because the LCD screen is worthless in bright sunlight.
