Best cities for working in the interior design industry?

Personally, i think San Francisco is the best cities.  Because of the unique culture and a large influx of money from Silicon Valley, there is an incredibly strong demand for industrial, corporate and residential interior design.

I'm not exacly sure which is the best city....although my best guess is in large cities or Urban/Metropolitan areas.  You're more likely to bank more money because in places such as NY or LA, people are willing to pay the money in order to get what they want.  Whereas in places like Tennessee, there are probobly less people looking for an interior decorator.

I'm not sure what the best wages would be (I'm not an interior deisgn major, I'm a Fashion Management and Merchandising major..sorry!) However, I have heard that the majority of interior designers usually work on their own.  Some companies probobly have a group of interior designers working together to create a business atmosphere or something like that but out of 100% of ID's around 60-70 actually do their own work, showcase it to prospective buyers and see if they get hired for the job.
