  1. Hi,

Canberra is a great place to visit and also live in as well. There's no long traffic jams like Sydney or Melbourne and it doesn't take very long to get to places.

At the moment we've got around 325,000 people living here and still growing.

If your into bike riding we're a cyclist friendly city with plenty of marked bike paths including dedicated cycle lanes on all the major roads around Canberra. There's bush walking, boating, hiking, walking, sporting centres.

You can drive to Sydney in 3 hours which is only a short trip up the highway. Two hour drive down to the coast and an hour and halfs drive to the snow. Melbourne is a 7 hour drive but there are daily flights and coach services to Sydney and Melbourne.

There are also lots of jobs available as well.

There's always something going on in Canberra such as festivals, exhibitions, cycling races every weekend, fun runs, boat races, markets every weekend.

There are new suburbs starting up all the time so we're a growing city.

For real estate in Canberra the best website to look at is All Homes which is a Canberra based real estate website and most sucessfull website as well. Where you can search for rentals and for sale properties.

  2. Melbourne. Its not influenced by the mining industry as are most of the other cities so cost of living is much cheaper. It also has best shopping and best nightlife in Oz. Perth, Brissy & Sydney are all more expensive than Melbs (believe it or not). Perth is 9th most expensive city in the world! You could try Adelaide but its very boring, more of a retirement village. Melbourne has also been voted one of the top 10 most livable cities in the world. Only problem is that the weather is very random. Check out www.realestate.com.au and www.gumtree.com.

  3. Cost of living is quite high, depends where you are coming from.  I am South African and I moved to Townsville in April and love it here but find it quite expensive as I keep converting it back - which you shouldn't do hehe.  Everyday groceries at the shop - bread, milk, fruit and veg cost me about A$15, to fill up my car (Hyundai Getz) is about A$57.  A pizza is about A$10 and a McDonalds meal about A$7

But it is an amazing place and I figure you are paying for the LIFESTYLE and the safety.

Four bedroom house - go to www.realestate.com.au - they have stacks of places.

    Hope I helped.
