i have always suffered with acne/spotty skin, have been diagnosed with poly cystic ovwry syndrome which is main reason for spots/acne,plus mine is just on chin,is badly broken out at mo very spotty very red, people look like you've got some kind of disease or your weird,am switching and chopping and changing between skincare and makeup all the time,am currently using clinique normal skin makeup remover first then either just toner after at night, and a bar or another wash in morning using clinique compact almost makeup and thats it ,but feels like it looks too cakey hav eto pile it on,and looks too heavy on chin as thats the place i pile it on most any advice or tips,as i've spent alot of money on different products and aksed too many beauty assistants for advice and they all have different hings to say! also recently had a skin analysis done with elemis where they use a machine to look under skin to tell you whats there what you need to do,only do cheek area though as its the largest part of face, they do this to give a personalised skin programme rather than just look at you and ask you what skin you have, but unfortunatly despite there good name and expensive prices, the products they use have fragrance in plus far too much fragrance from all the natural oils etc, essential oils and other natural ingredients, which does not help my skin! gave me a enzyme wash to use in morning of which you need the serum as its a resurfacing programme, and for eve lime blossom cleanser lotion and toner of which the lotion has to be massaged over face and wahed or wiped off, don't see as its for end of day for makeup etc how massaging it over once and wiping or washing it off you won't know if its removed everything, also she told me you can just put it on cotton wool and wipe it over face of which i did and you use quite alot before you no longer see any trace of anything, plus was too heavy, then use toner and noth products felt like they left a film on my face and stung and irrtated my face so had to stop, also bought the sos cream for hormone/stress related skin products this again has fragrance in and too much natural fragrance from all the ingredients,of which she told me therwas no added fragrance,so i've had to stop using all these things, despite the fact it cost me over 100 ponds yes i know, well cause i don't earn a great deal bu still live at home and have been willing to give anything a try thats why i spent my money on it,but am def planning to ring them or go there and se what they can do for me seeing a s i spent this money and it was personal plan and has not suited me at all, does anyone after all this speel have any advice etc

  1. God, you poor thing! Really sounds like you've been through it. I feel in my bones that a lot of breakouts are caused by overcleansing and messing about with the skin too much, so if I were you I'd take a really simple route - just use cleanser rinsed off with warm water and a face cloth, no toner and no moisturiser to help your skin calm down.

I've tried just about every cleanser and the only ones that don't upset my skin an help to calm it are Eve Lom and, when I'm on a budget, Simple purifying cleanser - this one is only a few quid and really calms my skin. Within a couple of days my skin feels more soothed and the blemishes start to back off. I also avoid moisturiser when it's bad - and Simple cleanser leaves my skin soft enough that I don't need it , which is great.

My sister has suffered from acne for years and swears by Dermalogica, but it never quite suited me (and is expensive and has loads of steps you have to follow!). I'd suggest trying the Simple cleanser - at that price it's worth a go. And ignore the beauty consultants, it's the water that mainly cleanses your face - the product doesn't have to cost a fortune. Just remember to fill up the sink with warm water and keep rinsing and rinsing your face after cleansing.

    Hope it helps!
