  1. Plain old lye works well.

  2. Most often than not it is soap/hair combo blockage.  What I have found that works great is: go and heat up 2 Qts of water on the stove to steaming hot and pouring it directly down the drain as possible as from as high (like 2feet or better) so that the water pounds its way down.  The heat and the pounding "blows the clog thru the trap elbow onward thru the straight pipes without doing any damage to pipes.   Follow up by lots of hot water from the tap just to make sure the pipes are clear.

  3. Can't remember the name brand (maybe Liquid Plumber?).  But it is in a red plastic bottle and it is a maximum strength GEL.    I use it according to the directions, let it set about 30 minutes, then SLOWLY pour boiling water down the tub/shower drain.  If you have animals, like cats, make sure you close the bathroom door so they won't accidently l**k it while it's working.  Also, it probably wouldn't hurt if you coated the drain opening with vasceline so it won't damage the chrome.

  4. Take a wire coat hanger and unfasten it so you have a long piece of wire. Push one end into the drain as far as it will go and keep jamming it hard into the drain till the clog is busted up. Follow up with lots of hot water to move it along and out.

  5. Forget all that liquid stuff get someone to take your U bend off and clear the hair out of it !

  6. try red devil lye or hire plumber to snake line out

  7. Buy yourself a drain snake.  They work the best.
