Soho and the Village are quite trendy, I'm sure you could find some place to get a

good drink, but when you say best cocktail bar, what I picture are the bars in Midtown, the classy places that have been there forever, and each has a story to tell.  Probably the Monkey Bar which has been redone in the last number of years, quite posh.  The Royalton, home of many writers as with the Algonquin..
